President Tinubu Issues 48-Hour Deadline to Finance Minister for New Minimum Wage Cost Analysis

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to provide a detailed cost analysis of the new minimum wage within 48 hours. This directive was disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

Idris made the announcement while briefing State House correspondents following a meeting between the negotiation team and the President at Aso Rock.

“All parties to the negotiation of the new minimum wage will work together with organized labour to present a new minimum wage for Nigerians in one week,” Idris stated. “We will work diligently within the next week to ensure we have a new wage for Nigeria that is acceptable, sustainable, and realistic.”

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their strike, which began on Monday, for one week to facilitate further negotiations with the Federal Government.
