President Tinubu Vows to Fight Against Nigeria’s “Enslavers,” Commits to Nation-Building

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to combat forces he described as “enslavers” of Nigeria and its people, vowing to steer the country toward progress and prosperity.

The President made this declaration during a New Year’s homage at his Ikoyi residence, where he hosted Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other key government figures. Tinubu expressed gratitude for the National Assembly’s support over the past 19 months, emphasizing their role in the administration’s transformative journey.

“The enslavers want us to be an enslaved people, but we say no,” Tinubu asserted. “We are determined, capable, and resolute. Together, we will take Nigeria to the Promised Land.”

The President pledged to prioritize Nigerians in his government’s agenda, promising bold reforms, intellectual rigor, and courageous decisions to address the country’s challenges. He also highlighted the need for collective efforts to secure a better future for upcoming generations.

Vice President Kashim Shettima echoed Tinubu’s optimism, noting improvements in the economy due to close collaboration between the executive and legislature. “The economy has started picking up, and in the coming weeks and months, Nigerians will start smiling for the better,” Shettima said.

Senate President Akpabio commended the President’s courage and reformist agenda, emphasizing the National Assembly’s unwavering support. “On this journey of restoration, transformation, and rebuilding the nation, you are not alone,” he assured.

Other speakers, including Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, lauded Tinubu’s leadership and the administration’s efforts to ease challenges faced by Nigerians, expressing hope for sustained economic growth in 2025.

The meeting also featured discussions on policy reforms, economic recovery, and enhancing the nation’s global competitiveness. Key officials present included Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.

As the New Year unfolds, Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria, stating, “May God bless you and our country, and give our nation more prosperity.”
