Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ Triumphs at 2024 ASCAP London Music Awards

While Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema captivated audiences at Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Spring-Summer Show during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday, his global hit ‘Calm Down’ was winning big at the 2024 ASCAP London Music Awards.

‘Calm Down’ secured the prestigious Song of the Year and Top Streaming Song awards. The song’s co-writers and co-producers, Michael Hunter (aka London) and Andre Vibez, were also honored as winners.

These victories increase Rema’s American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) awards tally to three, marking the most by any Nigerian or African artist.

In 2024, Rema stands as the most awarded African artist, having won six awards. His accolades include one Trends Award in Brazil, one iHeartRadio Music Award, one ASCAP Pop Music Award, and two ASCAP London Music Awards.

Additionally, the DAILY POST reports that ‘Calm Down’ recently made history as the first Afrobeats song to surpass 1 billion on-demand streams in the United States.
