Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has predicted that Zimbabwe will pose a strong challenge for Nigeria when both teams clash in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles will host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with Nigeria looking to improve their standing in Group C. Zimbabwe, currently at the bottom of the group, played out a 2-2 draw with Benin, while Nigeria’s next opponents, Rwanda, lost 2-0 to Eric Chelle’s side in Kigali.
Speaking after Benin’s match, Rohr acknowledged Zimbabwe’s resilience, stating that despite their slim chances of qualification, they would fight hard against Nigeria. He commended Zimbabwe’s coaching staff and expressed confidence that they would give a strong performance in their remaining fixtures.
Nigeria currently sit in fourth place in Group C and will be aiming for a crucial win to boost their qualification hopes.
