The Rotary Club of Awka Central, District 9142, has inaugurated Mr. Ekene Agubata as its president for the 2024-2025 service year. The installation ceremony, held in Awka, also saw the induction of new members and the presentation of awards to individuals recognized for their positive contributions to humanity.
Mr. Agubata, the club’s 11th president, succeeds Professor Chidozie Ezezue. In his acceptance speech, after taking the oath of office, Mr. Agubata outlined his vision for the club, pledging to lead initiatives focused on community and economic development, youth empowerment, clean-up services across Awka, and efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality. He called on all members to offer their full support to help him achieve these goals during his tenure.
In his valedictory address, outgoing president Professor Ezezue expressed pride in the club’s accomplishments under his leadership, despite various challenges. He advised Mr. Agubata to approach his role with diplomacy, wisdom, and humility, ensuring his vision for the club is fulfilled. Professor Ezezue also pledged his continued support for the new president.
The President of Rotary Club of Awka, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo, praised the selection of Mr. Agubata, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the club towards greater achievements.
Among the award recipients was Mrs. Chinwe Ezeanya, who commended Rotary International’s charitable work and pledged continued support for its activities.
