Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on businesses to adopt flexible work arrangements to mitigate severe traffic congestion in Victoria Island and Ikoyi.
The gridlock, caused by the closure of the Independence Bridge at Bonny Camp for repairs by the Federal Ministry of Works, left many commuters stranded.
A resident, Oluwatosin Akanni, described her ordeal, stating she left work at 9 PM but arrived home past 2 AM.
In a statement on X.com, Sanwo-Olu urged businesses to consider remote and hybrid work models, emphasizing that a temporary shift in work culture could ease traffic pressure.
He apologized for the disruption but stressed that the bridge repairs were necessary to prevent a potential disaster due to its deteriorating structural integrity.
