As political activities intensify ahead of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, the “Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Political Family” (SIUPOF) has clarified its position, stating that it is yet to endorse any aspirant for the race. The group, which comprises ten subgroups, emphasized that it is focused on making a strategic and informed decision that aligns with the vision and legacy of its late principal, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
In a communique signed by representatives of its subgroups and read by Chief Vin Onyeka, SIUPOF disclosed that it is currently engaged in wide consultations to ensure that its eventual decision reflects the values and aspirations Senator Ubah stood for. The group reiterated its commitment to principles such as human capital development, infrastructural transformation, and selfless service to the people.
“We have not endorsed any aspirant at this time. Our leadership is diligently working to ensure that when the time comes, we make a decision that aligns with the vision of our late principal, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. We are carefully scrutinizing the antecedents, leadership qualities, and commitment of various aspirants to the core ideals he championed, including good governance, economic development, security, and inclusive leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people,” the communique stated.
Honourable Kamen Chuks, the Spokesman to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, also addressed the group’s stance, emphasizing that SIUPOF remains united and is not confined to any particular political party. He noted that the group’s support will be directed toward any candidate who embodies the values and vision of their late principal.
“SIUPOF is one, united, and not limited to any political party. Just as we supported our late principal, we will support any candidate we believe in. Our goal is to ensure that Anambra State continues on the path of progress and development that Senator Ubah envisioned,” Honourable Chuks stated.
The group’s announcement comes at a critical time as political parties and aspirants gear up for the governorship race. SIUPOF’s influence and structure, built on Senator Ubah’s political legacy, make it a significant stakeholder in the upcoming election.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, SIUPOF has urged its members and supporters to remain patient and steadfast, assuring them that the group’s decision will be in the best interest of Anambra State and its people.
