Senegal have booked their place in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after recording a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic on Tuesday night.
The win confirmed the Teranga Lions as Group D winners at the end of the group stage.
Abdoulaye Seck and Habib Diallo put Senegal in control with two first-half goals before captain Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off after receiving a straight red card.
Despite being reduced to ten men, Senegal extended their lead when Cherif Ndiaye added a third goal to seal a comprehensive victory.
Senegal will now face either Burkina Faso or Sudan in the knockout stage of the competition.
In the same group, the Democratic Republic of Congo also recorded a 3-0 win over Botswana but finished second and will face Algeria in the Round of 16 for a place in the quarter-finals.
Other confirmed Round of 16 fixtures include Tunisia against Mali and Egypt versus Benin Republic, while South Africa, Morocco and Nigeria have also progressed to the knockout stage.
