Simon Cletus, a Senior Secondary School I student from Palm Ville College in Lagos, has been appointed as the captain of the Golden Eaglets for the upcoming WAFU B U-17 Championship in Ghana.
The young footballer, who also represents the academy side Mavlon FC in Lagos, will lead the defending champions, Golden Eaglets, in Group B matches against Burkina Faso, Niger, and Benin.
Under the guidance of coach Manu Garba, the Golden Eaglets will kick off their title defense campaign against Burkina Faso at the University Stadium in Accra on Thursday.
The WAFU B U-17 Championship serves as a qualifying tournament for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, with the top two teams from the competition securing a spot in the continental tournament.
