The Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) has distributed more than three million naira in cash prizes and school supplies to students at Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Convent (DIOMECO) in Oraifitte. This generosity rewarded students excelling in various academic and extracurricular areas during the school’s valedictory and annual prize-giving ceremony.
In addition, the Fabian and Patricia Okonkwo Scholarship (FAPO) granted scholarships totaling N3,753,000 to twelve exceptional students, with each recipient receiving N312,750.
The Board of Governors of DIOMECO also awarded N600,000 to four students and teachers who secured the fourth position in a national spelling competition.
The ceremony was a celebration of dedication and hard work for the school’s principal, staff, and students. The benefactor of the school, Sir Emeka Okwuosa, represented by Sir Azuka Okwuosa, praised the school’s commitment to excellence and expressed confidence that the training received would propel the graduates to greater heights in higher education.
Mrs. Chidimma Okoye, Executive Director of the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, announced plans to raise the prize criteria starting next year, encouraging students to achieve an average of 75% or higher.
Dr. Joy Ndefo, Principal of DIOMECO, highlighted the school’s achievements and outlined their needs, including inverters, solar panels, a 25-seater bus, and CCTV cameras.
Goodwill messages were delivered by Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, represented by Venerable Odilichukwu Onyeka; Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, represented by Mrs. Eziamaka Umennadi; Barrister Austin Enendu; Chief Ben Etiaba; Chief Chike Obidigbo, and others.
Prize recipients, including Uzoamaka Umezurike, Chiziterem Nwabueze, and Testimony Okwelogu, expressed their gratitude to the donors and vowed to continue striving for excellence.
The event featured a welcome song, various presentations, and the awarding of prizes to the students who represented the school at the National Spelling Bee Competition.
