Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has reiterated that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) remains united under its National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, and his executive team. Governor Soludo made this statement during the funeral mass for the late Sir Nnamdi Ibezim at St. Lawrence Church in Mbaukwu, Awka South Council Area.
The deceased, Sir Nnamdi Ibezim, who was 65 at the time of his passing, was the brother of Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim and the Archbishop of the Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim.
Governor Soludo expressed confidence that APGA will continue to thrive under the leadership of Barrister Ezeokenwa. He also addressed the issue of local government autonomy, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to conducting local government elections, as outlined in his campaign manifesto and mentioned in his inauguration speech.
The Governor commended the Ibezim family for adhering to the state’s burial laws, which encourage giving people a dignified life rather than focusing solely on elaborate burials.
Earlier in the service, Rt. Rev. Chijioke Otti from Imo State delivered a sermon emphasizing the natural cycles of life and encouraging the family to bear their loss with equanimity.
Archbishop Alexander and Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported them during their time of grief and expressed hope that the good legacies of the deceased would be upheld.
The funeral was attended by members of the State Executive Council, including the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries.
