Soludo Attends Anambra Youth Conference; Charges Them To Be The Change They Want To See

The Governor of Anambra state, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo earlier today at the International Conference Centre in Awka attended the second edition of the Anambra Youth Conference were he urged the youths to be the change they want to see.

Soludo who stated that his government was populated with youths declared that, ” this is a government of the youth, by the youth and for the youth”

” Anambra youth, today is your day. I thank the convener, the Apga youth leader, Dr Tochukwu Obiadi and I want to make a proposal: Lets make this an interactive session. Question and answer. I want to hear from you. This is a government of the youth, for the youth and by the youth.”

While charging the youths to Be the change they want to see, he requested them to be solution providers rather than the problem itself.

” Without our youths participation, its not possible to achieve a secure society. People vandalize power installations and others and people allow them? The responsibility to fix our country, our state and communities is our collective responsibility.”

Furthermore, the Governor pointed out that there was nothing like unknown gunmen. “They are known. They are somebody’s son, brother, uncle, husband and others. Its time we start asking people, what do you do for a living? Today, some of our youths say, anara aju nwoke ife ona eme. Ife ama bu nya weta ego”

The Governor informed the youths that his administration recruited 8115 teachers who are youths, trained and empowered 5000 youths through the one youth two skills initiative of the government.

” Next year, we shall be disbursing some grants, scholarships and others to youths. We shall begin to document you for that programme”, he said.

The conference keynote speaker and Acting Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu who was represented by Professor Emegoako commended the Governor for his numerous youth centred programmes and policies.

The speaker pointed out that Gen-Z ages range from 12 to 27 years and pointed out that growing up persons have to be equipped with good knowledge through education and skills. He outlined some strategies for youth development to include; education, economic transformation and others. He advised the youths to make use of disruptive initiatives of the government of Professor Soludo.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Convener of Anambra Youth Conference and State Youth Leader of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Tochukwu Obiadi thanked Governor Soludo for his numerous infrastructural projects, policies and programmes in the state.

He mentioned projects like recruitement of teachers, training and empowerment of 5000 youths in various skills, training of 28000 youths in tech and ICT, solution fun city, 500km of roads among others.

He pledged the comtinued support of Anambra youths to the solution government.
