The Anambra State governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo accompanied by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim have commissioned the 5.2km dual carriageway leading to Chinua Achebe international airport.
Governor Soludo did the project commissioning yesterday, April 7, 2025 at Nteje airport junction interchange where ndi Igwe Anambra North, Presidents General of communities, Commissioners, Local government mayors, councillors, soludo support groups, youths and women attended.
The governor while addressing the people said that, “we should leave no one behind. If there is part of the state/sector that is left behind, that should be where you will call our attentions as a matter of priority.”
“We have come to celebrate one of our own, he did his very best he also build the International Convention Center (ICC). In honour of the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr. Sir. Willie Mmaduaburochukwu Obiano, we name this road to be The Willie Obiano Boulevard”, the governor declared.
The chairman of Oyi Local government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Nweke and his Anambra East counterpart, Sir Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze reassured the governor that their Local government areas would deliver come November 8th governorship election.
Hon. Nweke particularly stressed that the governor had built six roads, Nteje – Umueri – Otuocha road, Awkuzu junction Igbariam-Anaku road, Eke Ata Awkuzu – Umunya road with 2.5km spur to Enugu – Onitsha expressway, the 3-3 – Nkpor link road among others.
Hon. Ifeanyi Chinweze appreciated the governor for what he was doing in Anambra East. According to him, “Surprisingly, we have five newly completed general hospitals in Anambra State and all in Anambra North, Omambala has four. We also thank the governor for rehabilitation of Otuocha – Nteje and Umueri road.”
Speaking during the occasion, their royal Majesties, Igwe Prof. Charles Anikweze, Igwe Awkuzu, Igwe Sir Bennett Izuchukwu Emeka and Igwe Umueri, Igwe Dr Clement Idigo appreciated the governor for what he was doing for the Omabala people.
In particular, Igwe Emeka, Okebo II said, “as a road contractor, the former governor Willie Obiano tried his possible best in completing the road construction but time was not on his side, untill the current governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo came and said the works of the government is a continuity. But like Oliver Twist, we are asking for more”.
On their parts, the House of Assembly member representing Oyi state constituency, Hon. Innocent Ojike and his Anambra East Counterpart, Hon. Barr. Obi Nweke commeneded the governor for what he was doing for their people.
They pledged their continued support to the soludo led administration.

Somtochukwu Udeze, House of Assembly members, Head of Service, Barr Okwuy Igwegbe, Chief of Staff to Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Protocol, Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, former speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor and former House of Reps member, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe.

Tonycollins Nwabunwanne and others.
