Soludo Leads APGA Supporters, Rallies for Victory in Upcoming Local Government Election

Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, Governor of Anambra State and National Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has led a vibrant rally in Awka ahead of the upcoming local government elections scheduled for September 28, 2024. The event, held at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, brought together a large crowd of party loyalists, with Soludo energizing supporters and calling for strong voter participation.

Governor Soludo highlighted the significance of grassroots elections, noting their importance in shaping the future of Anambra State. He emphasized that the local government election would be a key factor in ensuring continued progress and development across the state. “APGA is synonymous with Anambra, and the upcoming election is crucial for the future of the state,” he said.

Soludo also celebrated the fulfillment of his administration’s promise to hold local government elections, a pledge made during his campaign. “We have built the institutional and legal frameworks to ensure this election takes place. Despite skepticism, here we are delivering on that promise,” he remarked. He noted that this election will be the third in Anambra since 1998 and credited his administration for advancing the electoral process despite legal challenges that brought the election date forward from December.

While nine political parties are participating, Soludo revealed that APGA is the only party with candidates contesting every elective position, underlining the party’s organizational strength. He reiterated APGA’s vision for the state’s future, highlighting his administration’s achievements, including advancements in road infrastructure, human capital development, and technology initiatives. “Anambra is 85 to 90 percent APGA,” Soludo proudly stated, affirming the party’s dominance in the state.

Soludo assured that APGA remains united and strong under the leadership of Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa. He called on all party members to continue supporting the party’s mission to bring peace and stability to the country, promising APGA’s readiness to contribute to national discourse.

Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, the Anambra State APGA Chairman, stressed the party’s preparedness for the elections, while National Chairman Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa praised Anambra’s achievements under APGA, calling it a model for other states.

Former APGA National Chairman Dr. Victor Oye echoed these sentiments, declaring that APGA remains unbeatable in Anambra. Other prominent party figures, including Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, and Chief Dozie Nwankwo, also spoke, lauding the party’s strong position and urging continued support for its candidates.

The rally culminated with the presentation of flags to APGA candidates contesting in the 21 local government areas of the state. Amid the vibrant drums, music, and dance, Governor Soludo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to securing a resounding victory for APGA in the elections.

The upcoming local government elections are expected to be closely contested, with APGA campaigning on its record of achievements in areas such as security, infrastructure, and job creation.
