Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has called for renewed efforts to strengthen families as the foundation of a stable society.
The governor made the appeal during a thanksgiving mass marking his 32nd wedding anniversary, held at Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area.
Reflecting on the rising insecurity in the state, Governor Soludo emphasized that many perpetrators of criminal activities stem from broken families, stressing the urgent need for societal and family rebuilding.
During the event, the governor praised his wife, Nonye, describing her as a virtuous woman and a divine blessing. He recounted their love story and explained how their annual wedding anniversary serves as a time to intercede for troubled marriages.
The Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, who officiated the mass, urged Christians to turn to God in challenging times. He also encouraged couples to emulate the exemplary marriage of Governor Soludo and his wife, commending the governor for his leadership.
National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, congratulated the couple and urged younger generations to follow their example, emphasizing that fixing broken families is key to repairing society.
The celebration was attended by Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim and his wife, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, the Traditional Ruler of Isuofia Igwe Aloysius Moghalu, top government officials, clergy members, and other dignitaries.
