Soludo Optimistic Kojo Automotive Assembly Plant Will Drive Anambra’s Economic Growth

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has expressed confidence that the Kojo Automotive Assembly Plant will significantly boost the state’s economy and transform it into a key automotive manufacturing hub. Speaking at the recently concluded Anambra State Investment Summit, themed *‘Changing Gears: Accelerating Anambra’s Economic Transformation,’* Soludo highlighted the strategic importance of the plant in driving the state’s industrial growth.

In 2023, Governor Soludo officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kojo Motors auto assembly plant, located in Umunya along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. The plant is set to assemble the OMAA range of gas-powered mini passenger and commercial buses, along with Yutong passenger and commercial buses from China.

At the summit, Chinedu Oguegbu, Managing Director of OMAA, announced plans to invite the governor to commission the first locally assembled vehicle at the Kojo plant in the first quarter of 2025. Oguegbu emphasized the governor’s enthusiasm for the project, assuring that the company is working diligently to meet the expectations set by Soludo and the state.

The summit gathered a diverse group of stakeholders from various sectors, including industry leaders, financial institutions, and development partners, all committed to advancing Anambra’s economic transformation. Oguegbu noted that Anambra is rapidly becoming a preferred investment destination, with businesses eager to capitalize on the state’s favorable business climate.

Kojo Motors was founded by John Oguegbu, an indigene of Anambra State, and aims to play a pivotal role in the state’s economic development.
