Soludo has made history by becoming the first governor from Anambra State to be named as the best-performing governor in primary healthcare delivery in both the Southeast and Nigeria within his first 32 months in office. These prestigious awards were presented by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health, and UNICEF.
Soludo has distinguished himself by revolutionizing the healthcare sector in Anambra through a comprehensive decentralization of the system. He upgraded primary healthcare centers and constructed five new general hospitals, equipping them with world-class facilities and skilled personnel to ensure the delivery of efficient, affordable, and quality healthcare services to residents. Additionally, he employed 1,000 health workers, including doctors, nurses, consultants, pharmacists, and medical laboratory technicians, to enhance service delivery. He also introduced telemedicine to provide quick and effective healthcare solutions.
Anambra received a total of $1,200,000, which includes $500,000 awarded for achievements in the Southeast and $700,000 for overall excellence in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge. This shows Soludo’s commitment to improving primary healthcare, which has had a meaningful and positive impact on the lives of the Ndi Anambra, particularly the elderly, women, pregnant mothers, young people and children. Soludo’s double victory highlights the importance of strategic investment and collaboration in building a healthier future for the state.
