Soludos’ 1,040,000 Tree Seedlings Distribution: An Effective Solution to End Anambra Erosion, Climate Crisis Says Dr Odimegwu

In a bold move to foster Environmental sustainability and uphold sustainable development goals, the Governor of Anambra state, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo launched the 2024 distribution of 1,040,000 economic trees seedlings to Ndi Anambra on Saturday, 20th July, 2024 at Achebe Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha South Local Government Area.

Speaking to newsmen at the unveiling ground, the Commissioner for Environment, Engr Felix Odimegwu lauded the Governor’s initiative which is in furtherance of his clean, green and sustainable Environment project in the state.

The Eco-friendly Commissioner expressed that the drive is a strategic catalyst for environmental conservation, protection, beautification and for halting environmental degradation.

He stated that the state ministry of Environment which he heads has done numerous projects on tree-planting and with the recent launch of Anambra Tree planting day and urban forestation initiative which will be an annual event, every nook and cranny in our state will be ‘TREE-MENDOUS’.

Odimegwu urged Ndi Anambra to key into this initiative of planting and nurturing of trees and seedlings as it is one natural way to help curb the overwhelming erosion menace in our dear state

The highlight of the event was the distribution of oil palm, ukwa, akilu, oji Igbo and paw-paw to different schools, wards, groups and organisations.
