Residents of Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State, are experiencing much-needed relief following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s provision of free pipe-borne water.
For years, the densely populated area struggled with severe water scarcity, forcing residents to rely on costly water vendors or trek long distances to access clean water. The financial strain was particularly challenging for low-income families, who often had to pay high prices for water of uncertain quality.
However, with the launch of the free water project, the situation has improved significantly. Residents, including Jude Okoli, Ekene Nnamdi, and Chineye Okoh, expressed their gratitude, noting that the initiative has not only reduced their expenses but also made clean water easily accessible. They confirmed that the water runs regularly and is available at no cost, easing the daily struggles of many households.
Despite the positive impact, the residents have appealed to the state government to sustain the initiative and expand the project to more streets within the community.
