Soludo’s Wife Advances Healthy Living Exhibition Garden to Seed Sowing Stage

The Healthy Living Exhibition Garden, a new agricultural project initiated by Mrs. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State governor and founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, has progressed to the seed sowing stage.

Following its establishment a few days ago, the garden had previously undergone preliminary planting procedures, including soil testing and seed tray setups. With ridges now carved out, Mrs. Soludo personally sowed cucumber seeds and inspected the nurseries developing in the seed trays. These nurseries are expected to be ready for transplanting within three weeks, after which further agricultural procedures will follow.

The Healthy Living Exhibition Garden will feature a variety of crops, including eggplants, cabbage, cucumbers, watermelon, carrots, tomatoes, hot pepper, radish, ginger, turmeric, garlic, onions, okra, beetroot, lettuce, and sweet pepper.

Mrs. Soludo explained that the primary purpose of the garden is to demonstrate that many crops and vegetables traditionally thought to be grown only in northern Nigeria can also thrive in Anambra State. She emphasized that the garden will serve as an educational resource for those interested in cultivating unique crops, providing practical knowledge that can be shared within the community.

Additionally, Mrs. Soludo previewed the forthcoming Healthy Living Community Garden initiative, aimed at promoting lucrative agricultural opportunities for Anambra residents, especially women and youth.
