Mrs. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Governor of Anambra State, has called on residents to bring forward any child with cleft deformities for immediate and free treatment. This initiative is part of an ongoing partnership with Smile Train aimed at eradicating cleft deformities in the state.
Speaking in Awka, Mrs. Soludo emphasized that cleft deformities are treatable and stressed that no child in Anambra State should endure the condition or the associated stigma. She encouraged parents, guardians, and anyone aware of a child with such deformities to seek help.
The partnership with Smile Train provides free surgeries for individuals with cleft lips and palates, and Mrs. Soludo highlighted the state’s commitment to reducing the number of untreated cases to zero. She urged families to take their children to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, or the nearest public health facility for treatment.
For those needing assistance or more information, Mrs. Soludo provided two contact numbers: 09030055335 and 08133979363. She reassured the public that all treatments under this program are completely free.
Expressing her gratitude to Smile Train for the collaboration, Mrs. Soludo noted that the state government remains dedicated to exploring the best options for the welfare of its residents.
The partnership between Mrs. Soludo and Smile Train began in 2023, and since then, eight children have successfully received free surgeries for their cleft deformities.
