Soludo’s Wife Continues Healthy Living Market Outreach at Afor Igwe, Umudioka

Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, emphasized the crucial role of traders in maintaining market hygiene and ensuring the safety of what people consume. During her visit to Afor Igwe Main Market in Umudioka, Mrs. Soludo highlighted that the responsibility for healthy living largely lies with those who produce or trade food items.

Addressing the market attendees, Mrs. Soludo urged traders to be cautious in how they store foods, avoid using harmful chemicals, maintain personal hygiene, keep their surroundings clean, and promote these practices among others. She noted that adopting simple hygiene practices, such as regular hand-washing, could significantly reduce the incidence of illnesses.

Mrs. Soludo also encouraged proper waste disposal and the avoidance of non-organic foods. She addressed social issues, including campaigns against drug use among children and the importance of communal child-raising.

Chief Uchenna Malobi, President General of Umudioka Progressives Union, welcomed Mrs. Soludo and noted that the healthy living initiative has become widespread in Anambra State. Market chairman Mr. Dennis Okwuosa and market woman leader Mrs. Uju Mbamalu praised Mrs. Soludo for her efforts and pledged to promote hygiene practices in the market.

To support the initiative, Mrs. Soludo donated waste bags, aprons, hand-washing buckets, and disinfectants.

The event was attended by the Commissioner for Health and State Coordinator of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, Dr. Afam Obidike, Managing Director of Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA), Engineer Emeka Okonkwo, the convener of Women in Governance for Greater Anambra (WIGA), Mrs. Amaka Obi, and Deputy Woman Leader of APGA, Mrs. Chinwe Umerie, among others.
