Soludo’s Wife Launches Pad Bank and Healthy Living Club at School of Health Technology, Obosi

Obosi, Nigeria – Mrs. Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor and founder of the “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative,” has established a Healthy Living Pad Bank and inaugurated a Healthy Living Club at the Anambra State College of Health Technology (ASCoHT), Obosi. This launch coincided with World Menstrual Hygiene Day, celebrated with the students of the college.

ASCoHT is the first tertiary institution in Anambra to host both the pad bank and the healthy living club, expanding initiatives previously implemented in over 300 secondary schools across the state.

Addressing the students, Mrs. Soludo praised the college for its commitment to personal and environmental hygiene. She highlighted that the pad bank, replenished at the start of each academic semester, aims to support female students during menstrual emergencies, reducing associated stigma and stress.

Mrs. Soludo also emphasized that the healthy living club would educate students on essential health practices, empowering them to apply this knowledge within their families and communities. She promised to regularly check on the club’s activities and commended the school’s leadership for their support.

Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, acknowledged the college’s vital role in promoting the healthy living initiative due to the students’ health-related education and enthusiasm. He noted the state government’s commitment to enhancing the institution’s infrastructure, including a newly-built multi-purpose block, under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

Provost of ASCoHT, Mr. Daniel Ezeobi, lauded Mrs. Soludo as the first governor’s wife to visit the institution since its inception. He expressed gratitude for her initiatives, pledging his personal involvement in ensuring their success.

The event featured performances highlighting the importance of hygiene and healthy living. Mrs. Soludo also donated packs of pads to initiate the pad bank project and made cash contributions for the college to purchase sports equipment for the healthy living club.

This initiative marks a significant step in improving menstrual hygiene management and promoting healthy living practices among students in Anambra State.
