Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor, has called on public officials and wealthy residents to support the enrollment of their communities into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme. This appeal was made during the recent launch of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination program in the state.
Mrs. Soludo emphasized that adopting this model on a large scale would alleviate pressure on the state’s health sector and improve life expectancy. She highlighted the scheme’s affordability and extensive coverage as its unique strengths, noting that the current administration is committed to providing quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare for all residents.
She encouraged public office holders and affluent individuals to leverage the scheme’s benefits to aid financially constrained members of their communities. Mrs. Soludo also suggested that religious institutions and social groups could play a pivotal role in promoting enrollment among their members, ensuring that basic healthcare is accessible to all.
Furthermore, she explained that comprehensive utilization of the state’s health insurance could significantly enhance public health outcomes in Anambra, reducing mortality from common illnesses. Mrs. Soludo also urged those who can afford the insurance premium to enroll, thereby safeguarding themselves from high medical expenses.
Additionally, she encouraged young families to take advantage of the ongoing free antenatal care and delivery services, which include caesarean sections and other natal procedures.
