The Anambra State Commissioner for works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma has revealed that solution funcity, Awka will be opened to the people by December this year.
He made the announcement on Friday when he spoke to I-Witness Media Office members at the construction site at the Kwata area in Awka. Okoma informed that the vision of the Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was to build projects that would transform the state into a destination lounge as against its privious status as a departure lounge.
He stated that the centre has a country club, family area, casinos, lawn tennis court and others that would make families to come, relax and enjoy in the Awka city.
Contributing, the Chairman of Anambra State Urban Regeneration Council, Arc. Michael M. Okonkwo highlighted the visions of the governor which informed the design and other appurtenances of the centre.
Arc Okonkwo informed thusly, ” Governor Soludo aims to achieve a leisure and entertainment centre that will rival anyone else in the developed world. The essence of the funcity addresses the whole gambit of urban regeneration.”
According to him, the project will attract the people into the state to come, invest and enjoy thereby achieving the megacity vision of mr Governor for the state.
On his part, the Chief Engineer of ZCC, the Company managing the amusement/water parks section, Engr. Edmond Chukwuemeka informed that the centre upon completion will have six swimming pools, Ferrys wheel, the tallest drop tower in Nigeria (38m high), pirate ship, merry go round and others
Speaking more specifically, Engr Chukwuemeka informed that the centre has a splash pool, island pool, push pool, mini Olympic sized swimming pool, children’s pool and others and that some installations have been completed while others were at various stages of completion.
He informed that the Amusement/water parks section has two administrative buildings, three cinema halls (two vips), a balling area, massive restaurant area and a massive arcade hall with green areas.
