The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze, has visited flood-affected areas in Ogbaru to assess the situation and engage with displaced residents. Udeze, who represents the Ogbaru II constituency, reassured the people of the government’s support and commitment to addressing their challenges.
Accompanied by Hon. Esmai Nnamdi, Chairman of LEMCE Ogbaru, and other officials, Udeze visited Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, where he urged residents to remain in the camps for their safety. He promised that essential supplies, including food, medical items, and mattresses, would be provided to alleviate their suffering during the flood crisis.
The Speaker also inspected ongoing infrastructural projects in the area, including the Atani-Ossomala Road and the Onuko Bridge, to assess the progress of work. He acknowledged the difficulties residents along the Idemmili and Iyiowa roads were facing and appealed for patience, explaining that the government is monitoring contractors to ensure steady progress on the Atani-Uga road.
During his visit, Udeze emphasized the state government’s commitment to restoring normalcy and addressing the challenges faced by the people of Ogbaru. He also met with security personnel in the area, commending their efforts in maintaining peace and stability and encouraging them to remain steadfast in their duties.
The visit underscores the government’s determination to provide relief and expedite development efforts in flood-ravaged areas of the state.
