The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic (SSANIP) has declared a three-day warning strike, commencing at midnight on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, and ending on Friday, January 24, 2025, to protest against alleged plans to deny non-teaching staff career progression to CONTEDISS 15 in the Polytechnic Schemes of Service.
In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Labour, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, the union, through its National Secretary, Nura Gaya, expressed frustration over failed engagements with relevant authorities and described the situation as a threat to equity and justice within the polytechnic system. SSANIP emphasized that non-teaching staff must not be marginalized, as career progression policies should accommodate both teaching and non-teaching cadres, which have distinct salary structures.
The union urged the government to address their concerns to prevent further disruptions and reaffirmed its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue to resolve the matter amicably.
