Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle and his backroom staff are set to arrive in Kigali today as preparations begin for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda.
Chelle recently trimmed the squad from 39 to 23 players, with the invited stars expected to join camp by Sunday evening. Full training will commence on Monday ahead of the must-win clash against Rwanda at Amahoro Stadium on Friday, March 21.
The Super Eagles currently sit fifth in Group C with three points from four matches, making victories against Rwanda and Zimbabwe crucial for their qualification hopes.
Chelle made bold choices in his final squad, notably excluding Getafe midfielder Christantus Uche and Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers despite their recent form. New invitees Tolu Arokodare, Papa Daniel Mustapha, Igoh Ogbu, and Kayode Bankole are set to make their international debuts.
Key players in the squad include Stanley Nwabali, William Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, and Simon Moses.
Regulars like Kelechi Iheanacho, Maduka Okoye, Zaidu Sanusi, Frank Onyeka, Chidera Ejuke, and Ahmed Musa missed out, while Jordan Torunarigha replaced the injured Nathan Tella.
After facing Rwanda, the Super Eagles will play Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25.
