Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has commended his team’s performance following their 2-0 away victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The win at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday night marked Nigeria’s first-ever triumph on Rwandan soil and revived their qualification hopes.
Victor Osimhen scored both goals for Nigeria in the first half, securing a crucial three points.
Reflecting on the match, Chelle acknowledged Rwanda’s strength but expressed pride in his players’ efforts despite limited preparation time.
“It was a difficult game; Rwanda have a great team. I am proud of my players’ performance. We worked a lot within the few days,” he said.
“We had just two full training sessions. We kept the ball well in the second half—good performance from my guys.”
The victory moves the Super Eagles to fourth place in Group C with six points from five matches.
