Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong and striker Victor Osimhen have assured fans that Nigeria will give their all when they face Zimbabwe in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Speaking upon the team’s arrival at the Victor Attah International Airport on Saturday, Troost-Ekong dismissed Zimbabwe’s hopes of securing a result, emphasizing that Nigeria’s ambition to qualify for the World Cup remains their driving force. The defender, who played a key role in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali, stated that most of the squad is eager to experience football’s biggest stage for the first time.

Osimhen echoed his captain’s determination, describing the remaining qualifiers as battles Nigeria must win at all costs. The Napoli striker, whose brace secured the win against Rwanda, emphasized the team’s unity and readiness for the challenge ahead.

Troost-Ekong also praised the contributions of debutants Tolu Arokodare and Alhassan Yusuf, who performed well despite playing out of position. He acknowledged new head coach Eric Chelle’s tactical approach, noting that despite limited time together, the team has started to adapt to his style.

A win against Zimbabwe will boost Nigeria’s qualification hopes, moving them to nine points and strengthening their position in Group C.
