Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen expressed relief after his team clinched a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Libya in Uyo on Friday night. The decisive goal came from substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who scored just four minutes before the final whistle, securing the win for the three-time African champions.
With this victory, the Super Eagles remain at the top of Group D, accumulating seven points from three matches.
“It was a huge relief for me and the boys,” Eguavoen stated after the match. “When the goal came, it was a big relief. But I expected us to score more goals. Overall, we’re happy; we’re still top of the group.”
The Super Eagles are set to face Libya again next week on Tuesday, as they continue their campaign in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
