Former Super Eagles players including Elderson Echiejile and Emmanuel Emenike gathered at Efen Ikot Okoro in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State to mourn the passing of Philip Robin Enyeama, father of football legend Vincent Enyeama. The elder Enyeama, who served in the sports department of the University of Uyo, guiding the football team through numerous tournaments, passed away on February 22 at the age of 92 after a brief illness.
The funeral proceedings commenced with a morning house opening on July 1 at 10:00 am at his residence in Efen Ikot Okoro. This was followed by a lying-in-state ceremony on July 5 at 7:00 am at the same venue, culminating in a final burial service at St. Patrick’s Parish, Urua Inyang, Ika LGA, Akwa Ibom State.
Vincent Enyeama, renowned for his record-breaking 101 appearances for Nigeria’s national football team from 2002 to 2015, led the gathering of former teammates and friends in paying their respects to his late father.
The ceremony drew condolences and support from across the football community, highlighting the lasting impact of Philip Enyeama’s contributions to sports in the region and beyond.
