Super Eagles to Get New Head Coach Before 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, Says Sports Minister

Nigeria’s Sports Minister, John Enoh, has announced that a new head coach will be appointed for the Super Eagles before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers begin next month. The coaching position became vacant after Finidi George resigned in June.

The Super Eagles are set to kick off their AFCON qualification campaign with matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda in September. The first match will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on September 7, followed by an away game against Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on September 10.

Speaking on Channels TV’s “Politics Tonight” program, Enoh assured fans that the appointment of the new coach would happen soon, emphasizing the importance of having the team well-prepared for the upcoming qualifiers.
