Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been crowned the National Team of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards.
The nine-time African champions triumphed over strong contenders, the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco and South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, to clinch the prestigious honor.
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, received the award on behalf of the team during the ceremony.
The Super Falcons remain the highest-ranked women’s team on the African continent, a position that underscores their dominance in the sport.
In a related category, Falconets forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu narrowly missed out on the Women’s Young Player of the Year award, which was won by Morocco’s Doha El Madani.
