Suspected Internet Fraudster Arrested for Alleged Attempted Ritual on Lover in Abuja Hotel

A man, yet to be identified, has been arrested for allegedly restraining his lover with the intent to use her for ritual purposes at a hotel in the Wuse area of Abuja. The suspect was apprehended after tying the hands and legs of the woman before being caught.

A video of the incident, which surfaced online on Thursday, shows concerned individuals at the scene ordering the suspect to untie the woman.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed awareness of the video. In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, revealed that the man is suspected to be an internet fraudster. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested him but has yet to transfer him to the police for further investigation.

Adeh stated, “The FCT Police Command is aware of the video footage circulating about a lady who was criminally confined at Top View Hotel, Wuse, Abuja, on 17th September 2024, by an alleged internet fraudster for a money ritual. The NSCDC has the suspect in custody but is yet to hand him over to the police for a thorough investigation.”

The police are now awaiting the transfer of the suspect from the NSCDC to proceed with their investigation into the incident.
