Teachers House emerged victorious in the 2024 inter-house sports competition of Irene Menakaya Schools, Onitsha, securing the highest points to claim the giant trophy. The event, held with much excitement and fanfare, saw pupils from different houses competing in various sports disciplines.
Lawyers House finished in second place, while Engineers House claimed the third position. Among individual achievements, Chisom Ebele was crowned the best female athlete, and Chima Edeogu of Lawyers House was named the overall best athlete of the competition.
The sporting event featured a range of activities, including short and middle-distance races and shot-put contests, showcasing the athletic talents of the students.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Mrs. Christy Chukwukelua, and a top management staff member, Mrs. Chidiogo Anene, highlighted the importance of sports in a child’s overall development. They urged parents to encourage their children to actively participate in sporting activities to promote physical and mental well-being.
The highlight of the competition was the presentation of medals and prizes to the winning athletes, marking a successful and memorable event for the school community.
