Team Electrify emerged victorious at the recently concluded Techstars Startup Weekend Onitsha, organized by the Solution Innovation District (SID), winning a grand prize of five hundred thousand naira.
Over the course of 52 hours, Team Electrify developed an IoT energy device that provides users with affordable access to electricity. Other notable teams included Team FITS (Fire Tackling System), which created a system to alert fire services of immediate fire outbreaks, and Team Lifeline, which developed an app to facilitate blood donations to hospitals in emergencies.
Anambra State’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Honourable Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, praised the teams for their impressive innovations within such a short timeframe and encouraged them to continue turning their ideas into reality.
In separate interviews with ABS, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation, and Mr. Ikechukwu Anajemba, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Innovation, emphasized the program’s role in advancing Governor Soludo’s agenda to foster technology-enabled startups in Anambra State. They highlighted that the program aims to demonstrate the potential for creating solutions across various sectors and assured that the Solution Innovation District will help these innovations reach investors and the broader market.
Team members Valentine Nnamani, Zion Echezona, and Uchechukwu Winsom expressed their gratitude to the Solution Innovation District for providing a platform to develop and showcase their ideas.
