President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, for his victory in Saturday’s Edo State governorship election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo the winner on Sunday after defeating other contenders.
In a statement released by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised APC leaders, Edo State officials, and party governors for their efforts in securing the victory. He described the win as a reflection of the people’s support for the ruling party’s progressive ideals, economic policies, and dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians.
The President encouraged Okpebholo to embrace his victory with humility and view it as a call to serve the people of Edo State. He urged him to reach out to his political rivals and work toward uniting the state for its development.
Tinubu also commended other candidates for their contributions to Nigeria’s democracy, emphasizing the importance of peaceful elections. He advised those dissatisfied with the election results to seek redress through legal means.
The President lauded the people of Edo State for their peaceful conduct during the election, noting the maturity of Nigeria’s democracy after 25 years. He also applauded INEC and security agencies for ensuring a successful and largely hitch-free election, reaffirming INEC’s commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria.
