President Bola Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his efforts in transforming Abuja through infrastructure development and governance reforms.
Speaking during an Eid-El-Fitr homage at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Abuja, Tinubu acknowledged Wike’s contributions, noting that abandoned projects, healthcare facilities, and schools were being revived. He jokingly cautioned Wike against using his work to shift political support in Abuja towards the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The President highlighted key reforms initiated in the FCT, including the removal of the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account and the establishment of an independent civil service commission. He emphasized that these measures have improved service delivery and governance in the territory.
Reaffirming the importance of national unity, Tinubu praised Wike, a southerner, for his ability to work effectively in the northern-dominated FCT. He urged Nigerians to embrace diversity for collective prosperity.
The President also called for continued solidarity and support for the less privileged, reminding the public of the lessons from Ramadan.
In his remarks, Wike invited Tinubu to inaugurate several completed projects as part of activities marking the President’s second anniversary in office. He assured continued support for the administration’s economic reforms and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
