Tinubu Urges Nigerian Universities to Lead Anti-Corruption Efforts

President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerian universities to play a proactive role in combating corruption, emphasizing their pivotal position as centers of learning and intellectual development.

Tinubu made this appeal during the second combined 3rd and 4th convocation ceremony of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) held in Gusau on Saturday. Represented by the Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof. Lawal Bilbis, the president underscored the need for universities to spearhead efforts against corruption and other social maladies, particularly among the youth.

He stated, “As prime institutions of learning, universities bear the responsibility of shaping critical thinking and moral values, which are crucial in the fight against corruption and societal ills.”

Tinubu highlighted the government’s increased budgetary allocation to key sectors such as education, defense, humanitarian aid, and healthcare, underscoring their significance in national development.

He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of students, promising decisive action against perpetrators of student abductions and other criminal activities.
