Two Inmates Released, Others Granted Bail in Nnewi Jail Delivery Exercise

Two inmates, Kingsley Ndianeze, 24, and Miracle Ibe, 24, have regained their freedom following a jail delivery exercise led by the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Honourable Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, at the Medium Security Custodial Center in Nnewi. Ndianeze faced charges of defiling a minor, while Ibe was accused of conspiracy and kidnapping. Both were discharged during the exercise.

Representing Justice Anyachebelu, Justice Ifeanyi Nweze, the Administrative Judge of the Onitsha Judicial Division, also granted bail to several detainees: Benedict Ikebunna, accused of murder; Ikenna Ezeoke, a robbery suspect; and Chimamkpam Ngeremba, charged with theft and malicious damage.

Reverend Barrister Lotanna Ogbuchukwu, who provided pro bono representation for around 20 inmates, encouraged those released to use their freedom wisely and contribute positively to society.

Justice Anyachebelu praised the improved efficiency in handling criminal cases in the region, noting significant progress. Officer-in-Charge of the custodial center, Ikenna Nwobor, also urged the newly freed individuals to apply life skills and training they acquired during their time in custody to better their lives and serve their communities.
