UBEC Reaffirms Commitment to Technology-Driven Education in Nigeria

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has reiterated its dedication to advancing innovation in Nigeria’s basic education sector through research and the integration of smart technology. This commitment was emphasized by the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, during the inauguration of the Research Management Committee at the UBEC Digital Resource Centre in Abuja on Tuesday.

Dr. Bobboyi stated that all research projects supported by UBEC will align with the nation’s goal of establishing a technology-driven education system. “Our focus is to ensure that all research initiatives supported by UBEC will contribute significantly to establishing a smart educational system that will enhance learning outcomes for our students,” he said.

During the event, Prof. Bashir Galadanci, the National Coordinator of the UBEC Digital Resource Centre, stressed the importance of collaboration among committee members. He urged them to work together to implement smart education initiatives effectively across the country.

Prof. John Gbenga Adewale, the Chairman of the newly inaugurated 20-member committee, assured attendees of the committee’s commitment to supporting UBEC’s vision. “We are committed to working diligently to support UBEC’s vision of integrating smart education into Nigeria’s education sector,” he stated.

The committee comprises notable members, including Dr. Peter Adeseeni Matemilola, Dr. Nseabasi Essien, Dr. Emmanuel Chukwunweike Nwangwu, and Prof. Comfort Ekpo, among others.

In recent years, UBEC has actively pursued a digital transformation agenda that has resulted in the establishment of model smart schools across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. This initiative is part of UBEC’s broader strategy to modernize Nigeria’s basic education system through the adoption of smart technology.
