Umuoji Community Welcomes Newly Ordained Priests, Gifts Them Vehicles

The Holy Family Catholic Church in Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, was filled with joyous parishioners as the community welcomed five newly ordained priests from the area.

The priests—Reverend Fathers Anthony Ezeh, Michael Muogbo, Augustine Ilechukwu, Augustine Onyeji, and Augustine Nwagoli—were ordained last year by the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke.

During the Mass, the oldest indigenous priest of the parish, Very Rev. Father Anthony Asoanya, expressed gratitude to God for blessing the community with devoted priests. He also praised the community for their support, which he said empowers the priests to fulfill their pastoral duties.

Chief Stephen Onwuachu, former President General of the Umuoji Improvement Union, gave thanks for the event’s success and acknowledged the dedication of Umuoji’s sons and daughters in upholding traditions and supporting the community’s clergy.

The newly ordained priests shared their joy and gratitude for achieving their dream, while the event’s highlights included the presentation of cars to each priest, along with a celebratory cake-cutting and traditional dances.
