The Governing Council of the University of Abuja has approved the promotion of 154 staff members to various ranks. The promotions include both academic and non-teaching staff, with the academic staff promotions broken down as follows:
– **19** promoted to **Professor**
– **14** to **Associate Professor**
– **20** to **Senior Lecturer**
– **6** to **Lecturer I**
– **1** to **Lecturer II**
In addition, **94 non-teaching staff** were promoted across different ranks, including **2** to **Deputy Director**, **6** to **Assistant Director**, and others to various grades.
The promotions were approved during the Council’s 98th Regular Meeting, held from December 10 to 14. The acting Registrar, Islamiyat Abdulrahim, confirmed the promotions in a statement signed by the acting Director of Public Affairs, Habib Yakoob.
The promotions cover a wide range of academic specialties, including automobile engineering, energy engineering, library management, international economic law, environmental law, political sociology, cardiology, medical microbiology, banking law, applied geophysics, and more.
In a message of congratulations, acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Aisha Maikudi commended the staff for their dedication and hard work, highlighting the university’s commitment to timely promotions and fostering excellence. She assured that all promotion backlogs had been reviewed and resolved, with remaining cases awaiting external assessments.
Maikudi emphasized that the university values merit and transparency, ensuring that deserving staff are rewarded for their contributions to academic and professional excellence.
