USAID, COCA-COLA, TechnoServe Donate Trucks, Others to Anambra Privately-Owned Recycling Companies

United State Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with Coca-Cola foundation and TechnoServe Nigeria have donated Plastic Recycling Equipment to privately-owned waste recycling companies in Anambra State.

The handover was performed by the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Dr. Felix Odimegwu on behalf of the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo in the presence of USAID, Coca-Cola Foundation and Technoserve officials at Jerome Udorji Secretariat in Awka.

The donations were a part of the private sector support initiative in plastic recycling chain by Nigeria Plastic Solution Activity (NPSA) an initiative launched by USAID, Coca-Cola Foundation and Technoserve to tackle critical challenge of plastic waste management in Nigeria through innovative recycling solutions.

Speaking during the handover, Dr Odimegwu Stated that the initiative was in line with the agenda of the Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo in making sure that circular economy takes center stage in the state.

Odimegwu emphasized that the gesture was in view of the Nigeria Plastic Solution Project to support plastic recycling industries in the state. He urged all private recycling companies in the state to come forward and affiliate with the state government as that would align them with opportunities such as this.

He maintained that the goal was to end plastic pollution in the state as the move would maintain a clean, green, healthy, liveable and sustainable Anambra where we can all live, work and enjoy.

Beneficiaries of the 150kv generator, Washing line machine donated include: Zubnol Global Link Industry Limited and Ndukauba Investment Resources Limited. Trucks, more generators and washing line will be given out in subsequent time
