As preparations ramp up for Nigeria’s first annual national university football competition, Varsity Cup has confirmed several top universities to host matches for the 2024 Men’s Football season. The tournament, which aims to create a premier platform for Nigeria’s top student-athletes, will see games played at prestigious institutions including the University of Ilorin, University of Benin, and the University of Lagos.

Dubbed “The Champions League of Nigerian Universities,” the 2024 Varsity Cup will feature 10 of the country’s leading university football teams competing in 26 matches across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. The competition is set to enhance the profiles of participating athletes and promote unity and healthy rivalry among universities.

The selected host universities have committed to providing comprehensive support, including access to facilities, medical services, security, and student body assistance. This preparation is intended to ensure a high-quality experience for players, officials, and fans.

With an added competitive edge, the two lowest-performing teams in the tournament will face relegation, intensifying the stakes and ensuring a thrilling football season.
