Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen celebrated his 26th birthday on Sunday with a special gift: a green Lamborghini Urus. The birthday present, which is reportedly the first super sport utility vehicle in the world, was blessed by former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins. In a video that surfaced, Martins prayed for Osimhen in front of the vehicle and shared a traditional Nigerian sipping ceremony, passing a glass from which both players drank.
The Lamborghini Urus, valued between $237,848 and $269,885 (approximately N371.99 million to N422 million at the current exchange rate), is a luxurious addition to Osimhen’s collection. The tradition of sipping over newly acquired cars or properties is a well-known cultural practice in Nigeria.
Osimhen’s birthday was widely celebrated within the football community. The official Super Eagles account posted a heartfelt message, congratulating the striker, who is currently Nigeria’s joint second all-time highest goal scorer. “Happy birthday to immediate past Africa Player Of The Year, Victor James Osimhen. We wish you all the best today and always,” the post read.
The CAF Player of the Year for 2023 was also celebrated by his former clubs, including Ligue 1’s official handle, which wrote, “Happy birthday to the King Victor Osimhen,” and his current club, Galatasaray, which shared a picture with the caption, “Today is our football player Victor Osimhen’s birthday! Happy birthday.”
Osimhen, currently on loan to Galatasaray from Napoli, is in stellar form, having scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 15 matches across all competitions this season.
