Nigerian music stars Wizkid and Ayra Starr have been named among the world’s leading artistes of 2024 by Chart Data, a global music monitoring platform.
In the list released on New Year’s Eve, Wizkid secured the 11th position, while Ayra Starr ranked 18th. South African singer Tyla also featured prominently, claiming the 12th spot.
The top 10 was dominated by global heavyweights, including South Korean sensation Jimin, and American icons Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Beyoncé, and rapper Kendrick Lamar. Other notable mentions were Charli XCX, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and Nicki Minaj.
In a related recognition, Nigerian stars Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy were named in Active World’s “Top 20 Music Global Icons Shaping the Future.” Davido was ranked 3rd, while Wizkid and Burna Boy secured the 6th and 8th spots, respectively.
