Nigerian music stars dominated the winners’ list at the 2025 Africa Arts Entertainments Awards (AAEA), with top acts such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Tems, Ayra Starr, and Darkoo clinching major awards.
The announcement was made on the official AAEA platform, recognizing the remarkable impact of Nigerian musicians across the continent and globally.
Wizkid’s collaboration with American singer Brent Faiyaz, “Piece of My Heart,” won Best Afro-R&B, while Davido and Chris Brown took home Best Global Collaboration for their track “Hmm.” Asake’s “MMS” featuring Wizkid earned the Best Afro-Native award.
British-Nigerian singer Darkoo emerged as Best Diasporan Act with her hit “Favourite Girl” remix featuring Rema. Burna Boy was honored as Overall Male Artist in Africa, while South Africa’s Tyla won Overall Female Artist of the Year and Best Female Artist, Southern Africa.
Tems received the award for Best Global African Female Artiste, and OdumoduBlvck was named Best Rapper in West Africa. Seyi Vibez won Best Male Artist, West Africa, while Ayra Starr claimed Best Female Artist, West Africa.
