World Sickle Cell Day: Soludo’s Aide Urges Patients to Utilize Free Health Services

On World Sickle Cell Day, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, praised the resilience and achievements of individuals living with sickle cell disorder in the state. He encouraged them to take full advantage of the state government’s subsidized health services for optimal medical care.

Mr. Ezeajughi emphasized that the state’s healthcare initiative aims to ensure that sickle cell patients receive adequate care, enabling them to contribute effectively to the state’s development.

He highlighted the significance of World Sickle Cell Day as an opportunity to honor the remarkable accomplishments of those living with the disease. Ezeajughi noted that sickle cell disorder is a global health issue, affecting millions worldwide. In Nigeria alone, an estimated 150,000 children are born with sickle cell disease each year, and about 40 million Nigerians carry the sickle cell gene.

The Chief of Staff underscored the importance of the “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” campaign, which aims to raise awareness that sickle cell disease is not a death sentence. With the right knowledge and tools, individuals can live symptom-free and, in many cases, recover from complications.

Mr. Ezeajughi urged those living with the disease to adopt Mrs. Nonye Soludo’s healthy living tips and make lifestyle changes to prevent health complications associated with sickle cell disorder.
